Occupation in Demand list for Ontario PNP 2018

Ontario has their own nomination program – Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) to nominate the skilled and capable immigrants. They can be invited to apply for provincial nomination and will be able to live and work in the province for the betterment of economy of the province. Ontario is the home to the capital city of Canada – OTTAWA.

Ontario immigration office selects candidates from the express entry pool and invites them to live in the province. OINP screens the application received and send them after review to the IRCC for Canadian permanent residency status. There are total three sub-categories under OINP through which the immigrant can apply for pr visa:

  • Human Capital Priorities Stream.
  • International Students with Job-offer.
  • International Students without Job-offer.


Some of the major eligibility criteria that need to be fulfilled in case you are selected through the express entry are as follows:

  • Must have a permanent full-time job offer in skilled occupation categorized under NOC level O, A or B from an employer, who will have to submit an application to validate your selection.
  • Must have basic educational qualification as per the Express Entry Norms (certificate/diploma etc).
  • Must have relevant experience in Occupation in-demand that should meet the basic requirement of express entry.
  • While you are filling the express entry form the option of “Interested in Moving to Ontario” should be selected.
  • Candidate must have the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 400 points.


Ontario immigration office has not released any list that shows the occupation that is in demand in the province. The main requirement for the skilled immigrants is that only that they have experience in occupation categorized under NOC skill level O, A or B.

Skill Type A: Management Jobs

Skill Type B: Professionals jobs with a degree

Skill Type C: Technical jobs

 There were some high in demand Information and Communications Technology (ICT) occupations that were eligible to receive a Notification of Interest (NOI) if the candidates have any experience in any of the following ICT occupations. Even if the candidates were having low CRS scores than the actual requirement that was at 400 CRS points, they were invited to apply for permanent residency visa.
